SONY LASER DISC PLAYERS

SONY LDP-1000A - This is an NTSC laser disc player that is used in Bega's Battle and Cobra Command.  It is not compatible with the newer "LDP" series players such as the LDP-1450, LDP-1550, etc.  See the Programming Manual for a detailed look at the communication of this laser disc player.

SONY LDP-1450 - This is an NTSC laser disc player that is used in COPS, Crime Patrol, Crime Patrol 2, Dragon's Lair II, Fast Draw, Gallagher's Gallery, Last Bounty Hunter, Mad Dog McCree, Mad Dog II, Space Ace 91, Space Pirates, Time Traveler, and Who Shot Johnny Rock.

The LD player must be set to 9600 baud rate for proper communication with the PCB.  The dip switch settings for the Sony LDP-1450 are:  1-down, 2-down, 3-down, 4-up.  There is also a bank of six switches, these switches must all be set in the down position.  For info on the Command Set, check the Sony Command Set page.

SONY LDP-1500P - This is a PAL laser disc player that was not used in any laser disc games from the factory.  Using the Laser Ace Conversion Card, this player can be used in Euro / Atari Dragon's Lair and the Euro / Atari Space Ace.  For more information on which games it will work with, see the Laser Ace home page.

SONY LDP-1550 - This is an NTSC laser disc player that was not used in any laser disc games from the factory.  This player can be used as a direct replacement for any of the games that are listed in the LDP-1450 section, except Dragon's Lair II.  (if you want to use this player in Dragon's Lair II, check here for more info.)  Using the Laser Ace Conversion Card, this player can be used in many other laser disc games.  For more information on which games it will work with, see the Laser Ace home page.
